How to watch the BBC Proms 2021

With over 2,000 musicians performing at over 52 concerts over 44 days, there's an awful lot of world-class music to enjoy whether you're watching from concert hall seats or the sofa of your living room.

Tickets are still available despite the six-week season now starting up - here's how to get tickets to the BBC Proms 2021, and how to watch and listen to the prestigious concerts at home.

How can I watch and listen to BBC Proms 2021?

If you're unlucky enough to not get a ticket, never fear - the BBC has been broadcasting the Proms since 1927.

As usual BBC Radio 3 will be broadcasting every single note of the Proms live, along with Proms-themed editions of Record Review and In Tune. Concerts will also be broadcast live on BBC Sounds, and will be available on-demand until 30 days after Last Night along with Proms-themed mixes.

Twenty Proms will also be broadcast on BBC television and will also be available on iPlayer. This includes the ever-popular First Night and Last Night which will air live on BBC Two, with the famous second half of Last Night switching over to BBC One.

Other key concerts will be broadcast on BBC Two on Saturday nights, along with regular Prom coverage on BBC Four every Thursday, Friday and Sunday throughout all six weeks of the concert season.

Confirmed TV coverage includes the Kanneh-Mason Family performing Saint-Saëns’ Carnival Of Animals, The Golden Age Of Broadway with BBC Concert Orchestra and Sir Simon Rattle leading the London Symphony Orchestra in a celebration of Stravinsky.

Organist and broadcaster Anna Lapwood and new Mastermind host Clive Myrie will be joining the presenting line-up, which includes returning regulars such as BBC Radio 1 host Clara Amfo and long-term face of the Proms and newscaster Katie Derham.

When are the BBC Proms 2021?

The Proms begin on Friday 30th July with the First Night of the Proms, which will open with Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Serenade To Music that first premiered at the Royal Albert Hall under Proms founder Henry Wood in 1938.

The Proms will then finish on Saturday 11th September with the Last Night of the Proms, led by tenor Stuart Skelton and accordionist Ksenija Sidorova. Both nights will be presented by long-term host Katie Derham.

How to get tickets to the BBC Proms 2021

Tickets for the BBC Proms 2021 are available now and can be bought at www.royalalberthall.com or purchased over the phone by calling the Royal Albert Hall Box Office.

In keeping with founder Henry Wood's vision of bringing classical music to the widest audience possible, tickets will start as low as £7.50, with half-price tickets for under-18s and Prom day tickets at £6.

Tickets for the BBC Proms 2021 were split into two booking periods depending on the concert date, with tickets for both periods on sale now.

How to get tickets for the Last Night at the Proms 2021

A celebration of British traditions and patriotic music, the Last Night at the Proms is always the most popular concert in the summer-long event.

Therefore the tickets are sold a little differently and allocated via ballot, with any remaining tickets going on sale at 9am on Friday 13th August.

Tickets will be sold again through the Royal Albert Hall website and phone line - though you'll want to get in quick as there are usually few remaining after the ballot!
